Welcome to Monahans
Monahan’s has had many purposes over the last several decades. Originally owned by Joseph Monahan, it has functioned as a gas station, restaurant, clam shack, and dairy bar.
Today Monahan’s Restaurant maintains its location on the famed Narragansett seawall. Come and enjoy our classic Rhode Island land lover’s and seashore seafood with the original owners from long ago. The clam shack is back!
A Short History of Narragansett
In the early 1900’s Narragansett was well known for its nineteen grand hotels, large estates and the most prominent landmark, the Narragansett Pier Casino (1883-1886). The Towers constructed in 1883 continues to be the core of Narragansett.
The Great Fire of September 12, 1900 destroyed the Rockingham Hotel, Casino and only the granite walls of the Towers remained. |
